I don't care what anyone says. I think there was intent by Cooke for his skate to land on the back of Karlsson's leg.

They took out Ottawa's best player, hopefully somebody takes out Crosby.

Didn't even entertain that idea ( saw the replay at the gym). Then I sat down and watched it and I think so too

I bet Boyle has a really good game tonight, not like 1st round of the playoffs good, but good. Miller over Krider is an easy choice, I think Krider should be sent back down and work on his game, it's a better option than watching from the press box.

He did on purpose and the one angle clearly shows it. The only time he tries to put his foot down is his is already hovering over Karlsson's ankle.

edit: this is angle I'm talknig about.

I may be alone on this, but Erik Karlsson reminds me so much of Brian Leetch. He is a really a great, great player that makes it worth watching Ottawa Senator games. That is a brutal injury, and hopefully he will be the same player that he was before the injury, because if not it would truly be a shame.

I don't have a strong opinion on whether it was intentional or not. To be honest, if it were anybody other than Cooke, and I saw the same play, I would say that it wasn't. But, Cooke doesn't get the benefit of the doubt as far as I am concerned. Based on his reputation, I can be totally convinced that it wasn't an intentional play, but I hope that it was unintentional, because it would really take a sick SOB to do something like that intentionally.

Nice legacy that Cooke will ultimately have, huh? I wish he would just go away.

The back view makes it look like he did it on purpose, I don't know why he would have to pick up his leg on that play. But on the other hand he could have just lost his balance, maybe?

Edit: The gif was lagging and with a slower view it doesn't look it was on purpose, he was focused on the puck and I doubt he can kick him on purpose and focus on the puck at the same time at the speed they were going.

Other than PK Subban and his love of the slew foot, how many other players skate into a corner engaged in a physical nature with another player while skating on one one skate? He never makes an attempt to play the puck. His stick is way up in the air. He did it on purpose.

why would somebody have to forcibly put their left leg down if it was up in the air like Cooke does while he goes into the boards?

why wouldn't you just put it down?

You cannot look at that video clip and say that he doesn't actually use visible force to put his leg down.

I really don't think there was any reason for his left skate to come off the ice that high, he didn't look that off balance. Not good.

I don't see why more people can't see it this way. Cooke has made a career out of attempting to get under the skin of the best players on the other side, whether through chirping, or cheap shots, this is his game. I think if I saw this play by any other player it would be a cheap shot.

I can post the gif again if you like. What did Cooke do with his leg? Did it spasm out of control and just happen to come down on Karlsson's ankle?

well, we are Americans right! so I know what you think.

Tell me expert, if you are engaged with a player and your left leg goes in the air as you go into the boards, what reason would you have to use force to put your leg down, and not just put it down?

Please name One other star player than Karlsson and Savard that Cooke has caused injury too. And no Ansimov and McDonough aren't stars.

On to tonights game. I agree that I think Boyle being scratched for 2 games will light a fire under him coming back tonight. Got to get a couple of early goals here & I think the Isles will fold. They are on the cusp of slipping away as usual, always seems they get off to a decent start & then have one of these 10-12 game losing streaks that cripple there season. Gotta win tonight.

My favorite argument for Cooke is that he wasn't looking at Karlsson and also couldn't possibly know where his own feet were.

Because a professional cheap shot artist wouldnt be smart enough to act as if it was unintentional, and a professional athlete hasn't dedicated his entire life to mastering his physical body.
